Vocal Recording
Capture the authentic essence of your voice. At Quemadozone in Nagoya, we provide the silence and acoustic precision necessary to bring out the unique character of every artist.
Vocal recording is more than simply capturing audio; it is the process of documenting the subtle nuances of emotion and breath that form the core of a musical composition. At Quemadozone, we have created an environment in the Naka-ku district of Nagoya that is isolated from urban noise, allowing artists to maintain focus and deliver a precise performance.
Our philosophy is that a recording engineer should act as a technical partner who understands the artist's intent. By combining a professionally treated vocal booth with a selection of tube microphones, we achieve a warmth and spatial depth that remains difficult to replicate in home settings. We welcome everyone from established professionals to those stepping into a studio for the first time.
Preparation
Finalizing song structure, tempo, and key to ensure the studio time is used efficiently and purposefully.
Mic Selection
The engineer selects a microphone with characteristics that complement the specific vocal timbre and genre.
Tracking
Recording multiple takes in a relaxed atmosphere to capture the most accurate emotional delivery.
Data Review
Immediate verification of waveforms and audio quality to ensure the session is completed without technical errors.
Who This Service Is For
Our vocal recording services are available to any performer who requires a high standard of audio fidelity. This setup is particularly suited for the following needs:
- Singer-songwriters and band members producing singles or full-length albums.
- Vocaloid producers and track makers requiring commercial-grade human vocal stems.
- Creators needing clear, professional voice-overs for podcast introductions or narrations.
- Artists who need a formal master recording rather than a basic demo tape.
The Recording Process
At Quemadozone, we follow a structured workflow to ensure the artist can focus entirely on their performance. Each session begins in the control room with a briefing between the artist and the engineer to discuss the direction of the track and specific expressive goals. Once aligned, the artist moves to the vocal booth, where the microphone distance and angle are finely adjusted.
During the tracking phase, the engineer monitors the signal in real-time to prevent clipping or unexpected noise. This approach eliminates the risk of discovering technical flaws after the session has ended. We also integrate planned breaks to manage vocal fatigue, ensuring that the final takes are captured while the voice is fresh and responsive.
What the Client Should Prepare
To maximize the efficiency of the studio session and manage costs, we ask clients to provide the following materials in advance:
- Backing Tracks: Instrumental files in WAV format (44.1kHz/24bit or higher) with the vocal parts removed.
- Reference Tracks: Examples of songs that represent the desired tone, mood, or atmospheric quality.
- Lyrics: Printed copies or digital versions on a tablet for easy access during the session.
- Vocal Condition: We recommend adequate sleep and hydration the day before the recording.
For a detailed checklist, please refer to our Guide to Recording Preparation.
Deliverables and Formats
Following the session, we provide the recorded data in a format that allows for flexible editing during the subsequent mixing stage:
- Dry Vocal Files: Pure audio data recorded without any effects or processing (WAV format).
- Multitracks: Independent files for main vocals, doubles, and harmonies, provided as separate stems.
- Specifications: 48kHz / 24bit or 44.1kHz / 24bit, depending on your project requirements.
Timeline and Scheduling
Recorded data is reviewed at the end of the session and delivered via secure online storage or physical media. Typically, files are sent within two business days of the session completion. If you require extensive comping (selecting and joining the best parts of multiple takes), additional time may be necessary.
What Is Not Included
This service is focused exclusively on the recording (tracking) phase. Please note that the following are not included in the standard vocal recording rate:
- Pitch and Timing Correction: Edits using Melodyne or Auto-Tune are handled during the mixing stage.
- Mixing and Mastering: The process of blending the voice with the accompaniment is available via our Mixing service.
